The Ensemble Liceu XXI, focused on contemporary music, works on major pieces of avant-garde composition or the music itself that is written in the classrooms of the Liceu Conservatory Foundation by the center's composition students. This ensemble trains students in the interpretation of the contemporary repertoire, but also brings the most current and newly created music closer to the public, establishing itself as an artistic offering of great interest within the musical programming of our city dedicated to new musical languages.

On this occasion, the Ensemble Liceu XXI will present a repertoire made up of works by Benet Casablancas, one of the most recognized composers of today, professor at the Liceu Conservatory and Academic Director between 2002 and 2014. The concert will be accompanied by a discussion with the composer.

Santiago Sarrate, who regularly collaborates as a professor and director with the Conservatory, will be in charge of conducting this concert. T

he Liceu XXI project represents a unique opportunity to access what the composers of our time are doing, but also for the authors themselves, who have an open window at their fingertips in the Liceu XXI to show the world their creative work. This concert is part of the Liceu Jove cycle, which is presented as a very attractive musical proposal that helps students fully prepare for their leap into the professional world while they are in their training period. It also provides a great opportunity for music lovers in the city to access repertoires of great interest from a wide stylistic variety (from great lyrical works to contemporary and newly created repertoire, including jazz and modern music).
